Report from Johan Reyneke

Nelsons Creek 3 day MTB Challence 12,13 & 14 Sept
DAY1 65km
With the weather wet windy and muddy, i thought anybody doing this race must be very into MTB racing OR mad!! Normally these powerful 100% max heartrate first day starts can demoralise a person, with a field of top riders added... sjoe (Jaques Rossouw, Petrus Malherbe, Erik Kleinhans to name a few..) i ended amongst the to 10 and trusted the next day would be better.. normally like that.

DAY 2 85km
Hey... i had good legs!! and kept 5th position until i was directed onto the shorter route by wrongly discriptive arrows and a marshall as well!!... the cyclists behind me tried to call me back but they said i was motoring at such a pace into nowhere.... i was dissapointed and sad, the chap behind me finished 5th!

DAY 3 80km
this was a better racing day, myself and yesterdays buddy kept close to the front 4pack and i finished 5th. all in all a good race, and good preperation for the Oudtshoorn 3 day mtb race and the 180 degree Cederberg race

Deaf Cycling W/E -Tour De Worcester 2008

Sunday 7 September

Our day started with the wind howling in our
ears, at 5.00am! Every one was preparing for the 105km s race ahead. We
loaded our waterbottels with all the Magic, energy bars and had a quick
breakfast.
All in time and we arrived at the start (Dascbosch cellar) just outside Worcester at
6.20

It was arranged that our riders had their own
start and we were very impressed with the assistance and
willingness off the
Pedal Power Ass to be part of our arrangements. a BIG Thanks you guys !!!

We rode against a terrible wind through Rawsonville and then turned towards Worcester, turned onto the Villiesdorp road, turned of towards Robinson and completed the circle via Nuy back to the finish! We heard one cyclist were blow of his bike!! They say wind gets manufactured in this Valley !! terrible...

  • After the race we had a lovely braai, lucky draws and certificates were given to the cyclists

  • The results: 1st Johan Reyneke 2nd Christo Botha
  • 3rd Ashly Abrahams ..... well done guys !!

Sat afternoon & evening

After the time trial sat morning, we all moved to Jurg Reynekes house where we all were given a room and or accomodation, we also went to the mall where we supported the deaf cycling thelethon. (part of the week for the deaf)

Sat evening supper consited out of pastas and salads and we had a talk from the WCDCA SECR Tim Stones, on the Vision For SA Deaf Cycling; " The importance of a traing programme" by Johan Reyneke and a very informative slide show about Taipei and The Deaflympics 2009 From Charmaine Duvenage. Certificates were handed out for the results of the time trial and all went to bed early.... This was difficult because they had a lot to talk about

Deaf Cycling W/E Time Trial 24km

Our cycling weekend started on SAT 6 Sept, we met close to Goudini SPA in Rawsonville, on the road to Slanghoek. A Time trial which seems to be an easy 24 km s was quite tough with a bit of an uphill and the wind from the front.

We had lovely weather and all moved on to Worcester for good company, food and rest for the TOUR de Worcester tomorrow

Results: 1st Johan Reyneke 2nd Christo Botha 3rd Juan Duvenage

It was good for us to meet ... we haven't seen each other for quite some time .. and we were excited about the upcoming trials in February 200
